Another method is to run the half wall 4 4 outer post down into the framing and to bolt it to a joist or similar blocking and use 2 1 2 through bolts to attach 4 4. One method that works extremely well if the floor joists and half wall line up to install 1 2 plywood over the wall and down past the subfloor and onto the floor joist. Fortunately there are plenty of solutions. As you tighten the nut it draws the bolt upward and spreads the anchor out which makes a very tight fit in the concrete.

Concrete screws come in 3 16 and 1 4 inch diameter in lengths up to 3 3 4 inches. Be sure to wear safety goggles when hammering masonry nails into concrete. Some concrete nails are the cut nail design shown in the photo with a thick flat shank and a tapering v profile. I m using 3 8 diameter bolts that are 3 long.

I use tapcon concrete screws to secure the wood to the floor. Both hex head and phillips head styles are available. One half inch of penetration prevents shifting so drive 2 inch nails.
