How to remove hinged closet doors.
This video will show you how to remove and reinstall an interior door.
Using the scored line as a guide use a hammer and chisel to remove enough wood from the door s edge so each hinge lays flat in.
Once this is complete repeat the process with the inside closet door.
When pressed down pull the door from the track.
Then angle the door towards you and pull gently detaching the door from its top track.
Open the folding door so that you can grasp both halves of the hinged door together like a sandwich.
Open your closet doors and go inside the closet.
To make this job go smoothly first close and latch the door.
Reach up to the top pivot bracket and release the locking lever if there is one.
Score along the marked lines on the door edges with utility knife.
Once both pivots are out of their tracks remove the doors completely.
After they pop up an inch or so try pulling them free with your fingers.
Check the screws on those brackets to determine whether you need a philips or flathead screwdriver to remove them.
Next carefully lift the door up at a slight angle to remove the bottom rollers from the track.
Get the corresponding screwdriver and go back into your closet.
Look at the top and bottom of your door for brackets.
Remove the outside closet door by first sliding the door to the center of the track.
Then remove the hinge pins by tapping on the bottom of the hinge pin with a nail photo 1.
Go inside your closet and look at the back of your doors.
Unscrew the existing top track and bottom jamb screws to remove the tracking and jamb brackets.
