Determine whether you will need an allen wrench or a screwdriver based on the style of set screw which you will find on the bottom of the door lever. From there tighten the set screw back into place.

Turn the knob on the schlage assembly or press the thumb lever on top of the handle to disengage the catch and open the door. Step 2 inspect the rod s surface and locate the groove where the set screw needs to be secured.

Remove the screw and slip the lever handle off the rod.
