Remove the screws holding the hinges to the jamb with a drill driver or screwdriver.
How to shave a door for hinges.
Clamp the door to two sawhorses in a vertical position with the side that rubs facing up.
Open the door and make sure it moves freely over the tarp.
Turn the door so that the edge requiring adjustment is facing you.
Draw a line across the top of the door where it touches the frame.
For a full length trim remove the hinges from the back.
In turn that puts stress on the now thinned out frame and you will have problems.
A shaved door has a steel cable for the latch release inside the door and a solenoid.
Slide the scribe tool either up or down the door all the way.
Remove the hinges from the door.
Mark it for shaving.
Step 2 shut the door until it touches the frame.
Hold it in place between your legs and plane the high spots from above.
If you have even the slightest bevel on the hinge side you will put stress on the hinges when you mount the door.
At some point the pencil will begin to draw a line on the door transferring any angle on the door jamb to the side of the door.
Step 1 lay the tarp out so that the door will open over it.
If you are unable to take the door down for some reason you can still do this with the door on its hinges.
