Has joe ever worked in this light switch junction wall box.
How to remove a wall light switch.
With cover plate removed you ll see two screws holding switch in switch box.
Remove mounting screws on switch cover plate and take off plate.
Remove the switch from the switch box.
Unscrew and remove the switch plate.
Joe is ready to start removing an existing very old light switch.
Replace the cover with a blank wall plate cover or put a blank insertin the existing cover where the light switch was.
Then restore the power at the breaker box.
When you have distinguished the wires turn off the breaker and remove the other wire from the terminal.
Look at the top and bottom of the light switch assembly in the wall to locate two more screws.
If you may possibly use the wires again in the future label the wires with a piece of masking tape and a pencil.
If there are two screws with wires attached switch is a simple on off single pole type.
Turn off the power to the switch at the main circuit breaker or fuse panel.
Then use a voltage tester to make sure that the circuit is dead.
Screw the cover into place to cover up the hole in the wall.
If necessary remove screws and carefully pull switch out of box as far as attached wires allow.
Turn them counterclockwise with the screwdriver to remove them.
I wonder what joe will find on this light switch when he removes it.
Step 4 gently pull the light switch assembly out of the wall so that you can see the wires on the back.
Unscrew the screws holding the wires in place on the switch.
Turn the breaker back on then test the leads on both switch terminals with a voltage tester.
