Commercial door lever handles are graded in terms of their overall strength.
How to reinstall an industrial door lever handle.
1 locate the pin tool that came with your lock.
Apply a bit of pressure to the paper clip to trigger a release button inside the hardware.
Often times you will find them affixed to interior doors and if they are used on exterior doors they are used in conjunction with a deadbolt or another secure locking mechanism that is used to bolster security.
4 as you re install make sure the retainer pin lines up with the small hole on the lever base.
Remove the screw and slip the lever handle off the rod.
Once triggered the lever or lock trim can be removed from the door.
Go slowly with this so you won t end up stripping the screw head.
Tighten this with the screwdriver.
Turn the key to the reset position and push the barrel until it snaps in place.
3 remove and exchange both levers.
Replace the handle on the inside of the door using the same procedure.
Keep the handle in place and replace the set screw on the bottom of the lever.
Test to make sure the door handle actuates the latch correctly.
Line up the hole on the barrel of the handle with the tab on the lock mechanism which is still attached to the door then slide the barrel onto the lock.
If the screws were exposed already or the door handle assembly was rotated to fix the door handle there will be no covers to reinstall.
To depress the detent use the end of a metal paper clip or the point of an awl inserting it into the hole and pressing the detent down while twisting and removing the door handle shaft off the spindle.
