Now you re ready to hang your picture.
How to measure wall to hang pictures.
Mark the spot with a pencil.
In that space you ll want to measure across to find the center and mark it with pencil or painter s tape.
Measure and mark that spot on the wall.
Making sure to start at the floor we measured 65 5 up the wall.
Then use a level to make sure it is plumb with the mark on the strip of tape.
But although it may seem easy hanging a picture properly is much more than a haphazard task.
Now just hold the picture up maneuver it to the best spot and press in to mark for the nail.
Note that i placed the bottom of the hook not the nail on the pencil mark because that is where the wire will hang from.
In order to hang your picture in accordance with 57 inches you ll need to measure 57 inches on the wall and lightly mark with a pencil.
If you have a tightened wire on your picture you ll need to measure the top of your picture to the tightened wire.
When hanging something at an average eye level position its center 57 to 60 inches from the floor.
This tip works best when you re hanging pictures with hardware screwed on the back of the frame but if you re putting up wire hung pictures just measure the distance from the top of the wire to the pushpin hole and move the nail down that distance.
Mark that height using a pencil then measure to find the middle of the wall from side to side and mark where the two points meet.
For most pictures the only other tools you ll need are a hammer a screwdriver and a carpenter s level preferably 24 inches long.
Don t leave measurements to guesswork when you are hanging pictures.
You first need to decide on which wall or space your image is going to be hung.
That s where the middle of your artwork should go.
Lay the picture face down on a flat surface and hook a measuring tape on the hanging wire on the back of the picture then pull the wire up towards the top of the picture until it is taut.
Once you have hung the picture measure four strips of painter s tape the width you desire between your pictures and apply to the wall from the edges of your picture use level for even placement.
You then need to decide how high the print will be on the wall which is where many people go wrong.
For pictures with d rings or sawtooth hangers hook the tape over the top of the frame and measure down to the spot where the wall hanger will be attached.
Get out the tape measure and be exact.
Install your hanging hardware.
Transfer the hanger location on the wall by measuring down from the bottom edge of the painter s tape.
Proceed with the arrangement you pre planned and repeat the process until all of your pictures have been hung on the wall.
